Microsoft to launch Cloud PC virtual desktop service in the coming months
Earlier this year, it became known that Microsoft began testing a new cloud service, Cloud PC. With its help, users will connect to virtual desktops with Windows 10 and other applications from different devices. Now, network sources say that the official launch of this service may take place in the coming months.
According to reports, interaction with the Cloud PC service, which is being developed under the codename Project Deschutes, will be possible by subscription. Users will choose between different tariffs that differ in the amount of RAM and disk storage. This service will allow you to use full-fledged workstations with Windows 10 and other applications, even on outdated computers, since downloading a virtual desktop requires significantly fewer resources than running similar software products locally.
The new service may also be useful for those with Windows 10X devices, a lightweight version of Windows 10, and should be officially launched later this year. It implements support for ARM processors but does not support running Win32 applications, at least at this stage. Using a virtual desktop would allow Win32 applications to run on Windows 10X devices.
The source says that the cloud service of virtual desktops Microsoft Cloud PC may be launched in June-July this year. In July, the Microsoft Inspire conference is due to occur; the official launch of the Cloud PC may take place at this event.
