Tablet sales will continue to grow through 2020 and hit a three-year high
Analysts at Digitimes Research predict further growth in demand for tablets: sales of these gadgets, which have been declining for many quarters, went up amid the pandemic.
According to Digitimes Research, in the third quarter of this year, about 43.83 million tablets were sold globally. Other analytical company called even higher figures: according to estimates to IDC, the market volume reached 47.6 million units.
In the final quarter of 2020, experts at Digitimes Research believe that the demand for tablets will increase by 7.3% on a quarterly basis. As a result, sales of such devices will peak in 13 quarters or more than three years.
The growth in demand was provoked primarily by the fact that in conditions of self-isolation, distance learning, and remote work, users needed additional computer devices to exchange information.
It is noted that in the category of tablets with a display diagonal of 10 inches or more, there is a decrease in shipments. At the same time, sales of gadgets with 7- and 8-inch screens are increasing.
Apple continues to lead the rating of the largest players in the world market. The top five vendors also include Samsung, Huawei, Amazon, and Lenovo. Moreover, in the coming months, Lenovo, according to experts at Digitimes Research, may break out into third place.
