Take-Two: GTA V remaster for next-gen consoles won’t be a simple port

During a speech at Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked if the publisher plans to focus on remasters of its classic games in the future. Zelnik responded and also shared Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

According to Zelnik, the re-release of games is unlikely to be a big part of Take-Two Interactive’s strategy. Still, it is definitely part of it: “We did differently than the competitors – we are not just transferring games, but taking the time to make the best possible game-changer for the new release, for the new technology on which we launch it

Citing remakes such as Mafia: Definitive Edition, Zelnik said the company uses new technologies to improve graphics and performance. He also hinted that Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, due out in the second half of the year, will set a new standard in visual terms.

“When the game came out, she was a standard-bearer; she continued to be a standard-bearer in the second generation. And you’ll see Grand Theft Auto do it in the next generation. I’m sure Rockstar will deliver a great experience, but you can’t do that with a simple port of the game, ”added the CEO.

Grand Theft Auto V is currently available on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
