Tencent unveils open-world survival co-op action RPG Undawn
Tencent Games has announced undawn, a new open-world co-op action game created by the studio responsible for PUBG Mobile. The action takes place in a dangerous and unforgiving world where players must fight for survival against the threat of zombies on the one hand and people on the other. The project will be released this year on iOS, Android, and PC.
Lightspeed & Quantum Executive Producer Rick Li said, “At Undrawn, we wanted to create a new type of action movie that combines the freedom of an open world with RPG elements that completely redefine the genre regardless of platform. The fact that we have created such an amazing environment for mobile and PC means that even more players worldwide will be able to survive the apocalypse together, opening the way for a whole new direction in the genre of the open-world game. ”
undawn will unite both the battles between players PvP (Player vs. Player) and the fight against computer threats PvE (Player vs. Environment). What’s more, the game promises a fresh take on the open-world survival genre as well. To stay alive in this huge aggressive environment, players will gather resources, craft supplies, and weapons and fight living enemies and the undead.
To succeed, you need to unite with others, build a unique shelter, and trade resources. The game will have several factions like war clowns or cyborg bikers, and the heroes seem to have different classes (sniper, scout, stormtrooper).
As you can see, many ideas are mixed, and also, the game is created immediately for mobile platforms and PCs – the creators have ambitious tasks, but only time will tell what will come of it. Undrawn uses Unreal Engine 4 and promises huge open spaces.
