The Chrome browser for Android now has the ability to preview pages

The recent major update to mobile Chrome brought a tab grouping feature that makes the experience of interacting with the browser more convenient. Now Google has released a small update that adds the ability to preview pages in a small window before fully opened. This feature is now available to Chrome users on Android devices.

The new feature is straightforward to use. It is enough to press and hold on to any link on the viewed page. This action will lead to the display of a context menu where you need to select the “View page” item. The user will then see a preview version of the page.

This will make it easier for the user to understand whether to open the full version of the page. To close the preview window, swipe down on the screen or click on the cross at the top of the window. Besides, the preview window can be expanded to full screen. For this, a corresponding icon is provided, also located at the top of the window.

According to reports, the preview feature will soon be available to all Chrome 89 for the Android platform. Exactly when it may appear in the iOS version of Chrome is still unknown. It is worth noting that Google has been developing this function for about two years, and it has been tested for quite a long time in preliminary builds of the browser, after which it has become available to a wide range of users.
