The Nioh developers sent the series to rest – if the third part comes out, it won’t be soon

Nioh 2 director and producer Fumihiko Yasuda spoke to Famitsu about the near future of the Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo series of samurai fighters.

The Nioh

Recall that by now Team Ninja has developed two parts of Nioh and three plot additions to them. Apparently, at least for a while, the studio will stop there.

As reported by the Gematsu portal with reference to Yasuda’s comment, Team Ninja has been inseparable from Nioh for seven years, but now it is time for the franchise to take a break.

It is noteworthy that back in May of this year, Yasuda shared the sources of inspiration for a potential third part of Nioh. Apparently, these ambitions will have to be put on the back burner.

However, Team Ninja is not going to sit idle: according to Yasuda, in 2021, the studio will begin full-scale production of several yet unannounced projects.

We will remind, on the day of the release of Nioh 2, the developer said about the desire to return to the series of hardcore slashers Ninja Gaiden. Then it turned out to be impossible – the additions had to be completed – and now why not?

Nioh 2 went on sale on March 13 this year for PS4 and will reach PC (Steam) on February 5, 2021. On the same day, the release of the Nioh Collection is expected on PS5 – a collection that includes the full editions of the remasters of Nioh and Nioh 2.
