The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, visited the Voronezh Joint-Stock Aircraft Building Company, where he got acquainted with a prototype of the Il-96-400M airliner.
The plane was supposed to be shown to the general public at the MAKS 2023 air show, but the event was postponed to 2024. Nevertheless, work on the liner is underway, it is being prepared for the first flight.

The IL-96-400M is distinguished by a fuselage lengthened by 9.35 m, more powerful engines and a new set of flight-navigation and radio communication equipment. What is the future fate of this aircraft (after the first flight and a full test cycle) is not yet clear: the Il-96-400M is not included in the comprehensive program for the development of the Russian air transport industry.
