Twitter Apps for Android and iOS Get 4K Image Support
Twitter mobile app users on Android and iOS devices now have the ability to post and view 4K images. A message about this appeared in the official account of the social network developers.
“ Time to tweet high-res photos — the ability to download and view 4K images on Android and iOS is now available to everyone, ” the developers of Twitter wrote.
To activate the new function, you need to go to the “Data Usage” section in the application settings menu and activate the “High-quality images” (for viewing 4K images) and “Download high-quality images” options (for the ability to publish 4K images). Users can also make high-resolution images available over cellular and Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi only, or turn them off entirely. This setting is similar to the one already used by Twitter for high-definition videos and automatic video playback.
It’s worth noting that the web version of Twitter already supports viewing and posting images up to 4096 × 4096 pixels. However, users of mobile versions of the application, until recently, could interact with images with a resolution of up to 2048 × 2048 pixels. Some time ago, developers began testing the ability to upload 4K images with a limited number of Twitter users, and now it has become generally available.
