Twitter starts testing new feed design and 4K support

Twitter today announced the testing of a new post design with attached images and the introduction of 4K resolution support. But so far, only for photographs. Testing will take place only within the iOS platform.

Generally speaking, now photos in posts in the news feed will be placed in full size (taking into account the scale for the interface, of course). Previously, you had to select some separate part of the picture to display it for subscribers in the preview. In addition to new scaling options, the developers are introducing support for high-definition 4K images. The service used to use special algorithms to lower the resolution to speed up the loading of posts on the mobile Internet for users. With the development of 5G and the prevalence of LTE, the need for such compression has decreased.

In a statement, the Twitter team announced that the innovations would be rolled out over the next few weeks for testing. Access to test functions will be given to a limited number of people, randomly selected from all users. If you want to check if you have become one of these lucky ones, then go to the settings, the “Data usage” section, and check the option for maximum image quality.

Note that today Roskomnadzor announced a slowdown in the speed of access to the Twitter service. The department declares the possibility of blocking the platform if the requirements are not met. But this, of course, does not interfere with the introduction of new functions on the platform.
