Under liquid nitrogen, the GeForce RTX 3080 only overclocked to 2310 MHz, but still set a record in 3DMark Time Spy Extreme

In early September, NVIDIA’s official materials attracted buyers to the GeForce RTX 3080 with an almost double increase in specific performance, but the first reviews brought dreamers from heaven to earth. Even an experiment with extreme overclocking of the GeForce RTX 3080 showed that the “old horse” with the right approach is almost as good as the “new” one.

At least a group of Brazilian enthusiasts led by Ronaldo Buassali (aka Rbuass) managed to modify the reference design GeForce RTX 3080 video card (not to be confused with the Founders Edition) in such a way that under liquid nitrogen it was able to raise the GPU frequency to 2340 MHz.

Recall that NVIDIA GPUs for the GeForce RTX 30 series family of video cards are manufactured using 8nm technology by Samsung, and for them, this test is the first step in the world of extreme overclocking. The video cards of the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti series during their stay in the status of the flagship managed to conquer the frequency limit of 3 GHz, so the GeForce RTX 3080 in this sense is still ahead.
