Unusual reference AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT in black appeared in the photo
In the Chinese media space, very interesting photos of an unusual sample of the Radeon RX 6800 XT video card were published. The interest in the images was caused by the fact that the graphics accelerator is completely made in black. As it turned out later, the photo shows a special version of the Radeon RX 6800 XT, which Lenovo uses in its desktop gaming computers.
The fact that it is the Radeon RX 6800XT model is shown in the photo is indicated by the dimensions of the video card cooling system, or rather its thickness. The backplate, like the front decorative elements, is also completely black.
Recall that the RX 6800 XT, RX 6800 and RX 6900 XT video cards presented by AMD itself contain silver inserts on the front side of the cooling system casing, and also use a silver backplate.
The color of the casing edging at the top of the video card has also changed. Initially, it is red. In the published photo – black.
According to sources, the black Radeon RX 6800 XT was manufactured by Sapphire. And it seems that the only difference from the reference version of this model is the different colors of the casing of the cooling system.
In one photo, a black Radeon RX 6800 XT sits next to a GeForce RTX 3070, for which Lenovo has developed its own dual-fan cooling system.
One of the Lenovo representatives also posted pictures of a black Radeon RX 6800 XT as part of a gaming computer. Apparently, the logo of the video card has LED backlighting.
The Radeon RX 6800 XT is built around a Navi 21 XT GPU with 4608 stream processors, 288 texture units, and 128 raster units. The upcoming series of new Radeon graphics accelerators are based on the RDNA 2 architecture, one of the features of which is the emergence of so-called Ray Accelerators, which are part of each Compute Unit of the graphics core. They perform the same function as the RT cores of the GeForce RTX 20th and latest 30th series graphics cards. All current Radeon 6000 series graphics cards are equipped with 16GB of GDDR6 video memory, as well as 128MB of fast Infinity Cache buffer memory, which increases the bandwidth of the main memory stack.
The reference variants of the Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 will go on sale on November 18. The recommended cost of the first is $ 649, the second is $ 579. According to a representative of ASUS, at the start of sales, video cards will be available in limited quantities. Approximately a week or two after the start of sales of reference versions, one should also expect the start of sales of non-standard versions of these graphics accelerators. About which camp the above black model Radeon RX 6800 XT belongs to is still unknown. The flagship of the Radeon RX 6000 series, the Radeon RX 6900 XT, will go on sale on December 8th. The recommended price for the video card is $ 999.
