It is not yet clear where such APUs will be used.

We’ve heard about AMD Van Gogh hybrid processors more than once. Including they appeared on the roadmap leaked to the Network.

Very strange AMD processors. APU Van Gogh will receive an old CPU, new GPU, low TDP and a four-channel RAM controller

These APUs are interesting in that they will combine processor cores on the not new Zen 2 architecture with a GPU on the RDNA2 architecture. That is, these will be solutions similar to APUs in the new consoles of Sony and Microsoft.

New data indicates that Van Gogh’s APUs will be even more interesting than one might think. Firstly, they will allegedly receive support for DDR5 memory, and secondly, a four-channel controller for this same RAM. Perhaps such a controller is needed for the integrated GPU, but the situation remains unclear so far.

The nuance is that all the leaks talk about the Van Gogh APUs as solutions with a TDP of 7-18 W, that is, these are energy-efficient processors that are not focused on high performance. Why would they then have a four-channel RAM controller, it is unclear.

At the same time, all new information is posted in the boot log of the four-core sample of Van Gogh, that is, these are not rumors.
