The video lasts a little over 12 minutes and offers a complete walkthrough of the mission to kill the Somnacanth, a dangerous aquatic wyvern that debuts in the series with the release of Monster Hunter Rise.

The quest takes place in the previously unseen location, “Frost Islands.” The hero, armed with double blades, carries out a mission in the company of a palico and a malamute.

In addition to the Somnakant, during the battle, the protagonist now has to be distracted by third-party monsters wandering into battle. To defeat one of these, the player uses a new mechanic – riding a wyvern.

The released 12-minute video is the first in a series of exclusive IGN premieres. During the month, the portal will post new gameplay videos, previews, and Monster Hunter Rise illustrations.

The release of Monster Hunter Rise is expected on March 26 this year, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The Themed version of the Switch Pro console and controller will go on sale on the same day as the game.

Monster Hunter Rise pre-orders started in September 2020. Judging by the recent financial report from Capcom, they are doing well, with the publisher raising their forecast for the current fiscal year.
