Named sales start date and price

Cosina has announced the start of sales of the Voigtlander Nokton 40mm F1.2 Stills Edition (SE) lens with Sony E mount. This is a manual lens, also available with the VM mount. Moreover, the option with a Sony E mount is also in the Cosina range. The novelty differs from it in its external design, which is especially noticeable on the focus and aperture control rings. In addition, there is no button that switches the aperture ring to stepless mode. This is quite logical, since the stepless mode is in demand when shooting video, but not when taking pictures, while the Stills Edition in the name of the lens can be translated as “option for taking pictures”. The aperture consists of 10 blades and is adjustable in the range f / 1,2-f / 22.

The optical design of the lens with a focal length of 40 mm, corresponding to a field of view angle of 55 °, includes eight elements in six groups. It weighs 340 g and supports filters with a diameter of 58 mm. A hood is included. The built-in lens electronics transmits to the camera the data necessary for recording in EXIF and optimal image stabilization system operation.

According to Cosina, lens sales in the Japanese market will begin on June 24 at a suggested retail price close to $ 930.
