WeWork sues SoftBank

The reason was SoftBank’s refusal of a tender offer in the amount of $ 3 billion

The We Company, the owner of WeWork, has sued SoftBank Group, challenging the decision of the largest shareholder to terminate the tender offer in the amount of $ 3 billion for shares of the company organizing the joint use of office space.

Why WeWork sues SoftBank?

According to the plaintiff, which was an independent special committee of the board of directors of the company consisting of two people, SoftBank violated its contractual obligations by rejecting the tender offer.

“The Special Committee regrets that SoftBank continues to put its own interests above the interests of WeWork minority shareholders,” the lawsuit said.

Recall last week that SoftBank announced that it was cancelling a tender for additional WeWork shares, citing criminal and civil investigations regarding the startup, its inability to restructure the joint venture in China and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to the specifics of its business, WeWork was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, but it assures that it has sufficient funds to implement its five-year plan and solve the problems associated with the virus crisis.
