So WhatsApp plans to fight the spread of misinformation
According to the Vedomosti publication, functionality was cut in the popular WhatsApp messenger: now users can forward messages only in one chat at a time.
The creators of WhatsApp explained this decision by the desire to reduce the likelihood of the spread of misinformation during the coronavirus pandemic. So far, the innovation concerns frequently forwarded messages that receive a double-arrow symbol.
WhatsApp functionality has been trimmed, Messages can now be sent to one chat at a time
At the same time, as the WhatsApp press service noted, often forwarded messages often do not do any harm, since this function is used to distribute entertainment content and useful information. Recently, however, forwarding messages to WhatsApp has become a much more popular feature than before.
Many users are concerned about this fact, as it can contribute to the spread of misinformation. We believe that the distribution of such messages should be slowed down so that WhatsApp will continue to be a service for personal communication.
