Xiaomi invented a smartphone with cameras deviating in opposite directions

Resource LetsGoDigital has discovered Xiaomi patent documentation for a smartphone with a unique dual-module camera. It is quite possible that the proposed solution will be implemented in one of the future devices of a well-known Chinese developer.

Information about the new product is published on the websites of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

We are talking about a smartphone in which two main camera units can be deflected in opposite directions. This makes it possible to form images with a wide field of view. In fact, we are talking about a system that can replace conventional units with wide-angle optics, while ensuring higher image quality.

As you can see in the renders, the system provides for the horizontal arrangement of two optical modules. However, in theory, these blocks can also be arranged vertically. The deflection of the modules occurs synchronously at the same angle.

Unfortunately, it is not yet clear when the proposed hardware solution can be implemented in commercial devices.
