YouTube Music app downloads over 500 million
The YouTube Music app was released in 2018 as a replacement for Google Play Music. Since then, the search giant has been trying to make the transition from one application to another as user-friendly as possible. To attract users, Google is gifting a YouTube Music subscription to all YouTube Premium subscribers.
The transition process appears to be very successful. Today, the YouTube Music app has surpassed 500 million downloads, making it one of the most popular apps on the Google Play store. The main advantage of the service is the volume of its music library, which is larger than that of any other streaming audio service.
It is also worth noting that any music video found on YouTube video hosting can be played in the YouTube Music app. However, keep in mind that tracks that were not originally added to the music service will play at 192 kbps instead of the 320 kbps standard for YouTube Music.
