Microsoft has released an urgent update of Windows 10

The update came out two weeks before the standard “update on Tuesdays,” which is released once a month, the next is expected only on July 14.

The update closes two serious vulnerabilities with the markings CVE-2020-1425 and CVE-2020-1457, which allow you to remotely run malicious code on your computer. The problem is how the Windows Codecs Library handles objects in memory. Vulnerabilities can be exploited using specially created image files.

According to Microsoft, the vulnerabilities CVE-2020-1425 and CVE-2020-1457 were not disclosed to the public and their use is “unlikely.” Nevertheless, the developers decided to patch up these “holes” as soon as possible, without waiting for the release of the scheduled update on July 14. The latest update is distributed automatically through the Microsoft Store.

Vulnerabilities are present in versions of Windows 10, starting from 1709 (October 2017) and until the newest 2004 (May 2020), as well as Windows Server 2019, versions from 1803 to 2004.
