AMD Confirms Upcoming Announcement of Radeon RX 6000 Mobile Graphics Cards

AMD RDNA 2 graphics architecture is coming to notebooks soon. During the event at which the Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card was unveiled, Scott Herkleman confirmed that graphics cards with the new architecture would come to the mobile segment. One of the slides showed a laptop very similar to the MSI Bravo, designated as an RX 6000 carrier.

The release of notebooks based on Radeon RX 5000M graphics cards have not been entirely successful. Few laptops with first-generation RDNA GPUs were released. Mobile computers with discrete Radeon RX 5500M and RX 5600M are difficult to find on the market, as the choice is usually limited to models from MSI and Dell. It is even more difficult to find on sale a device with an older mobile graphics accelerator Radeon RX 5700M. In fact, it was available exclusively as part of the Dell Alienware Area-51m R2 gaming solution.

AMD, as usual, is hiding the details of upcoming mobile graphics cards. At the moment, leaks from Patrick Schur, a well-known insider, indicate only the TGP value of the upcoming GPUs. Resource VideoCardz was two tables that list all the currently known power targets mobile NVIDIA and AMD GPUs and their possible characteristics. Please note that both tables are purely speculative and based only on leaks and assumptions.

According to the resource, AMD may release more mobile video cards for Radeon RX 6000 than in the previous generation. There are still very few details on the Navi 24 graphics chip, but it will form the basis of entry-level graphics cards such as the Radeon RX 6300M.

According to some rumors, the Navi 22 mobile chip will receive 192- and 160-bit memory interfaces. This may indicate that the older models of mobile Radeon will offer 12 and 10 GB of video memory, respectively. Perhaps, the Radeon RX 6800M and RX 6700M will be built on this chip. Navi 22 will offer up to 40 compute units for a total of 2,560 stream processors, while the stripped-down chip could have 2,304 stream processors, allowing it to fill the gap between the full versions of Navi 22 and Navi 23.

The source also suggests that both models on the Navi 23 GPU should receive a 128-bit memory bus, which can consist of 8 or 4 GB. These cards will offer up to 2048 stream processors.
