AMD just changed its mind: reference Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards will continue to be produced

Yesterday we reported that AMD has discontinued its reference graphics cards, the Radeon RX 6800, RX 6800 XT, and RX 6900 XT. However, plans tend to change, and this is exactly the case. An AMD spokesman said that the company will still continue to release new video cards in the reference performance for some indefinite time.

This was announced by Scott Herkelman, senior vice president of AMD Radeon Technologies Group. He tweeted: “ We have just officially extended [production of Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards] of the reference design indefinitely due to high demand. Thanks for your feedback. “

It turns out that AMD changed its mind due to popular requests from fans, or at least wants everyone to think so. In fact, the reference design of the current generation graphics cards looks very good. Reviewers have noted a very quiet and efficient cooling system, which has a fairly massive heatsink and three fans. Therefore, it is pleasant that customers will be able to purchase solutions for a successful design for a while.

However, the situation with the availability of AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards remains deplorable. It is virtually impossible to buy both reference and non-reference models in stores. For many sellers, new deliveries of accelerators go to cover previous orders, but they do not accept new ones. The situation promises to improve unless by spring.
