AMD unveils Radeon 20.12.1 driver supporting RX 6900 XT and Cyberpunk 2077

AMD, along with the start of sales of the flagship video card Radeon RX 6900 XT, presented a driver with its support. The first December Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.12.1 driver also brings support for the upcoming action RPG Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt RED.

In addition, AMD engineers have fixed a number of existing issues:

  • Games may freeze when running on Radeon RX 6800 accelerators at a frequency lower than expected;
  • HP Reverb G2 VR Helmet did not sync or showed a black screen when working with Radeon RX 6800 graphics cards;
  • artifacts in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege on hybrid graphics systems when using Vulkan on an extended display;
  • problems when trying to change the resolution to a 16: 9 ratio in Crossfire;
  • Performance Metrics Overlay and Performance Tuning tab incorrectly reported higher idle clock speeds for Radeon RX 5700 accelerators.Also, AMD engineers are working to eliminate known deficiencies:

    The Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.12.1 driver can be downloaded in versions for Windows 7 (64 bit) or Windows 10 (64 bit) both from the official AMD website and from the Radeon settings menu. The new version is dated December 8 and is intended for video cards and integrated graphics of the Radeon HD 7000 family and above.

    • flickering brightness in some games when running Radeon FreeSync in borderless windowed mode;
    • Displays such as the Scepter C series or Samsung Odyssey G9 on Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards occasionally display a black screen.
    • display problems or distortion on the Samsung Odyssey G9 C49G95T when the resolution is set to 5120 × 1440 and 240 Hz;
    • crashes in Metro Exodus, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Battlefield V, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare when ray tracing is enabled;
    • Anisotropic filtering in Radeon Software Graphics settings is not applied in DirectX 9 games on RDNA accelerators;
    • stuttering in borderless windowed mode when connecting a second display and running the Netflix app on RDNA accelerators;
    • Radeon recording and streaming functions do not work on AMD Radeon HD 7800;
    • changing the HDMI scaling slider causes the frame rate to be locked at 30fps;
    • crashes on Polaris and Vega for Oculus Link users;
    • flickering when invoking Radeon Software Overlay while running Immortals Fenyx Rising on the second display;
    • flickering when using MSI Afterburner;
    • Performance Metrics Overlay and Performance Tuning tab incorrectly report higher than expected idle clock speeds on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards;
