ASUS registered two Radeon RX 6700 models with 12 GB of video memory in the EEC

AMD unveiled the Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics accelerator last week. It goes on sale on March 18th. The manufacturer did not specify whether it would release a regular version of the Radeon RX 6700 without the XT prefix in the name based on a stripped-down version of the Navi 22 GPU. Nevertheless, this novelty is also expected.

The Navi 22 XT graphics chip that powers the Radeon RX 6700 XT uses 2,560 stream processors. The Radeon RX 6700 model has already flashed in early leaks, but its GPU configuration remains unknown. According to some assumptions, there will be 2,304 stream processors in it, which corresponds to Radeon RX 5700 and Radeon RX 580.

According to the latest updates to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) database, ASUS has registered seven Radeon RX 6700 XT models and two Radeon RX 6700 models with 12GB of video memory. Both will be from the Phoenix (PH) series.

On the one hand, the presence of 12 GB in the Radeon RX 6700 is somewhat surprising. Previously, ASRock and PowerColor also registered the same model with the EEC, but with 6 GB GDDR6. Does this mean that AMD has changed its mind and will release the Radeon RX 6700 with 12 GB of video memory?

This would be logical since the competitor to this model will be the GeForce RTX 3060, released last month with the same amount of video memory. AMD itself has already confirmed that the Radeon RX 6700 XT’s main competitor is the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with 8 GB of video memory. It would be extraordinary to put a card with 6 GB of memory against it.

Curiously, several Radeon RX 6600 XT models with 12 GB of video memory are registered in the same EEC database (in the image above). It may be the youngest card that will receive less memory in the end.
