They will be replaced by an assistant with artificial intelligence
One of the founders of Microsoft, Bill Gates, said that one of the best companies in the field of artificial intelligence will create a personal digital agent that can perform various tasks for people and replace other services with it.
The technology will be so deep that it could radically change user behavior: “Whoever creates this personal agent, it will be a breakthrough, because you will never go to a search engine (like Google) again, you will never go to Amazon.”
“This yet-to-be-developed AI assistant will be able to understand human needs and habits and help them get information that you don’t have time to read,” Gates said during a Goldman Sachs and SV Angel event in San Francisco.
Gates said that the eventual winner in this race will be either a startup or a tech giant with a 50/50 chance.
“I would be disappointed if Microsoft didn’t intervene. But I’m impressed with a couple of startups, including Inflection,” he added, referring to Inflection.AI, co-founded by former DeepMind CEO Mustafa Suleiman.
Gates said it will take some time before this powerful digital agent of the future is ready for mass use. Until then, companies will continue to incorporate so-called generative AI technologies like OpenAI’s popular ChatGPT into their own products.
