AMD itself warns about this

Motherboards for the AM5 platform based on the A620 chipset, as it turned out, have one unexpected feature. They primarily support Ryzen 7000 processors with a TDP of 65W.

According to the documentation published by AMD, the chipset is ideal for the current generation of low-power CPUs. This does not mean that more powerful processors are not supported. It is said that higher TDP models will work on these motherboards if there is BIOS support. However, in this case, performance may be limited due to power limits.

Simply put, support for more powerful CPUs can be implemented on a particular board by one manufacturer or another, but there may be limitations. Only the Ryzen 5 7600, Ryzen 7 7700 and Ryzen 9 7900 models are 65-watt. All other CPUs in the line have a TDP of 105 W or higher.

At the moment, motherboards based on the A620 have already been presented by some manufacturers. If you look at the official websites, you can see that some companies do not have any restrictions at all, and there are simply no lists of supported CPUs, while others list all models, up to the 170-watt Ryzen 9 7950X.

Thus, manufacturers do not yet limit the use of processors even with the cheapest motherboards, but AMD itself, we recall, warns of a possible decrease in performance. That is, to clarify the situation, you need to wait for the tests.

By the way, AMD’s documentation also indicates that the starting price for A620-based boards is now $85 instead of $125, as mentioned earlier.
