Chrome browser for Android will flag fast websites

Developers from Google announced the testing of a new feature in the beta version of the Chrome browser for the Android software platform. Beginning with Chrome 85 Beta, the browser will specifically flag optimized websites that load quickly. For such resources, a Fast Page checkmark will be added to the context menu.

The “Quick Page” shortcut is displayed in the context menu that appears when you long-press on any link. The labeling is based on the Core Web Vitals metric, which takes into account parameters such as page load speed, response time, content stability, and more. Although the feature is just starting to roll out, users of the beta version of Chrome 85 for the Android platform can activate it. To do this, go to the menu using the chrome: // flags link and activate the corresponding parameter.

The developers believe that the new feature will help users who work on devices with poor or unstable Internet connections. Even before the opening of any site in the search results, you can get data on the download speed of a particular resource.

Earlier, Google representatives said that these Core Web Vitals metrics will be taken into account when ranking sites. In the future, for this function to work, you will need to activate the “Help improve page browsing and search” option. It is not yet known when exactly the Quick Page marks will start appearing in the stable version of the Chrome browser.
