In one of the most recent such robberies, the gang robbed a truck carrying brand new PlayStation 5 consoles and was moving at a speed of 80 km / h. According to the worked-out scheme, one of the intruders sneaks onto the truck from behind, opens the luggage compartment, uses cutting tools, makes a hole in the roof, and then throws the goods to the accomplices of the crime.

The Times reports that such robberies were carried out in the country at least 27 times until September. Still, the number of cases has increased significantly in recent weeks as robbers try to cash in on long-awaited consoles amid increased demand due to large shortages. The police warned the carriers about the popular robbery tactics.

Through its informants, the Times reached out to one of the criminals, who confirmed that the robberies are now aimed at expensive electronics and luxury goods produced by large technology companies. This gives the gangs inside information about when and where the truck should be.

Back in 2012, the Romanian police published a video showing an attempted robbery of a truck while driving on the highway in complete darkness.
