Facebook Released Lightweight Instagram For Android With No Reels, Shopping And IGTV
Some popular social media apps have light versions. They are designed for markets where internet services are very expensive. Plus, Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite, and Twitter Lite are great choices for weaker smartphone users. Facebook today released the Instagram Lite app for Android devices.
Facebook announced the launch of the new app during an event held in India. Instagram Lite weighs in at just under 2 MB. It lacks some of the features available in the basic app, such as Reels, Shopping and IGTV. Otherwise, users will not be constrained by the possibilities. Unfortunately, at the time of release, Instagram Lite is limited to India and available in multiple local languages.
Facebook said it plans to launch the app in other regions after testing in India. However, everyone can install the app from the APK file. It’s worth noting that this is the second time Facebook has launched Instagram Lite. The company abandoned the original version of the app in May this year due to issues with its functionality.
