FIFA 21 will not receive crossplay between consoles of two generations

FIFA 21 soccer simulator will not receive cross-play between current and next-generation consoles.  Electronic Arts reported this on Twitter. This will affect both PlayStation and Xbox.

Buyers of the simulator will only be able to play with other owners of the same console. PlayStation 4 players won’t be able to face off against rivals on PlayStation 5, and Xbox One players won’t be able to face off against Xbox Series X users.

Regardless, gamers will be able to carry over their FIFA Ultimate Team progress in the event of a console change. As a reminder, FIFA 21 buyers will be able to get an updated version of the game for free when purchasing next-generation consoles. This rule only applies if the platform is saved – it will not be possible to update when switching from Xbox One to PS5.

EA released the first FIFA 21 trailer at the end of July. Users criticized the company for the lack of gameplay in it. Also, fans made fun of the new cover of the game. The FIFA 21 release is scheduled for October 6 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
