Google extends Meet video conferencing service until June 30

Google extends Meet video conferencing service until June 30

Last year, Google opened free and unlimited access to its Meet video conferencing service to all users. Initially, the company planned to return to the standard terms of use of the service, in which free calls are available to users with a duration of up to 60 minutes in the fall of 2020. However, the free use of Meet was extended until March 31, 2021, and now it became known that this kind of “promotion” will last until June 30.

Google decided to make Meet available without restrictions for all Gmail account holders amid the coronavirus pandemic’s gathering pace. During this time, many people worldwide had to work and study remotely, and personal contacts with family and friends were limited. Therefore, video conferencing services that help establish work processes, learn, or provide an opportunity to communicate, have become extremely popular. By removing the 60-minute call limit on Meet, Google has made its service significantly more popular.

Initially, the developers planned to return Meet to standard operation at the end of September last year. Still, later Google announced the extension of free and unlimited use of the service until March 31st. Now, all Meet users will be able to make calls for up to 24 hours until June 30 of this year, and it is possible that after that date, the service will remain free and unlimited.
