Instagram is testing vertical scrolling “stories” to compete with TikTok

The 9to5Mac portal, with a link to TechCrunch, said that Instagram is testing a prototype of “stories” with vertical scrolling. Thus, the service can start competing with TikTok.

At the current moment in Instagram, “stories” can be scrolled by taps on the left or right side of the screen, as well as horizontal swipes. However, programmer Alessandro Paluzzi posted a screenshot on his Twitter account showing a possible innovation that could replace the current management model.

Techcrunch representatives in their material report that Instagram can reorient the stories section to video content, removing the ability to publish photos from the smartphone’s feed and gallery, making the “stories” section only with video. The publication also requested the Instagram press service to determine if the company is really working on this function, and a service representative confirmed this information. He stressed: “This is an early prototype, and we are still testing it in a closed format,” so it is not a fact that the innovation will appear in the public version of the application. Nevertheless, the company is considering such a prospect of service development.

Recently it became known that Instagram has a “Recently Deleted” section with the ability to restore posts.
