The company has partnered with leading anti-discrimination and anti-bullying organizations to create the tool. The option is designed to protect users from unwanted contacts and insults on racial, sexual or ethnic grounds. Also, the filter will filter out messages with offensive emoticons and obscene language.

“We understand the impact of offensive content, whether racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise. Nobody should experience this on Instagram, ”the company said.

The user will be able to activate or deactivate the option. The list of offensive words, phrases, or emoticons can also be determined independently. According to the developers, all filtering will be carried out exclusively on devices and not sent to the company’s servers. Thanks to this, users will keep the privacy of their correspondence.

The company will add this option in several countries in the next few weeks, but the exact list has not been specified. In the future, the developers plan to expand the geography of its use gradually.
