MSI releases GeForce RTX 3080 in Gaming Trio Plus and Gaming Z Trio versions

MSI has introduced two more versions of the GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming series – Gaming Trio Plus and Gaming Z Trio. The first from the usual Gaming Trio, presented in September last year, is distinguished only by a slightly modified rear plate. It has become a little thinner, thanks to which the video card now weighs 28 grams less. The second also received a higher factory overclocking.

The GPU frequency of the Gaming Z Trio version in Boost mode rises to 1830 MHz, which is 15 MHz higher than that of the Gaming X version. The Gaming Z Trio also has a higher declared power consumption level – 370 W versus 340 W for the Gaming X. Otherwise, both cards are indistinguishable from their predecessors. Each of them is equipped with a massive Tri Frozr 2 cooling system with three fans.

Each of the video cards includes three external DisplayPort 1.4 interfaces and one HDMI 2.1. Additionally, it should be noted that each version of the card has three 8-pin connectors for additional power supply. The dimensions of MSI Gaming graphics cards are 323 × 140 × 56 mm.

In fact, it is not entirely clear why MSI needed to release new versions of the GeForce RTX 3080 instead of new revisions of existing models.
