Apparently, MSI believes that its video cards are bought exclusively for mining.

MSI has updated the warranty terms for graphics cards: the warranty period for 17 models has been reduced by 6 times at once! Was 3 years old, and now – 6 months. It is even more interesting than the service life of these models is indicated equal to … the same 6 months. Instead of 4 years.

It is clear that such draconian measures were taken due to the fact that many of these models are used for mining cryptocurrencies, that is, they operate 24/7 with a decent load of the memory subsystem. However, many are not all. Even with the current high prices for video cards, they are bought not only for mining – after all, gamers need to play on something. However, MSI chose not to understand and not introduce any individual rules, but simply published a list of models with heavily curtailed warranty obligations. Obviously, in the eyes of gamers, the models of the Ventus line have now lost a lot of their attractiveness.

This is a very strange move on the part of MSI. It is clear when the warranty is limited to models designed exclusively for mining – like the Nvidia MCP HX, but introducing such restrictions indiscriminately (there are only 6 models of video cards for mining in the list, the other 11 are initially gaming) is a very strange decision. So far, these measures have been introduced in Russia, but they will probably soon be extended to other markets as well.
