Netflix has added an analogue of TikTok to its application, so far only for iOS

Netflix has added functionality to its mobile app that allows subscribers to have a good laugh at night without watching an entire TV show or movie. Fast Laughs is very similar to TikTok or Instagram Reels and is currently only available to iOS device owners in some countries.

Various short clips – taken from shows such as Big Mouth or excerpts from comedians like Jerry Seinfeld and Ali Wong – are played directly on the Netflix app. If any show, film, or a special offer is of interest, the viewer can add the corresponding program to their favorites so that they can watch it in full.

“We’re always looking for new ways to entertain our subscribers and make it easier for them to find interesting projects,” said Patrick Flemming, director of product innovation at Netflix. ” Fast Laughs is a new full-screen feed of funny clips from a wide range of Netflix offerings, from movies and TV shows to our wide selection of stand-ups

Fast Laughs makes sense for Netflix, given TikTok’s current growth and prominence in the market. In the last few earnings reports, Netflix has directly mentioned TikTok as a major competitor. It’s not that Netflix and TikTok do the same type of content – it’s just that people sometimes spend more time on TikTok – and therefore less time on Netflix. Giving iPhone users another option for scrolling funny short videos on their phones and turning that into time spent on their app by convincing people to watch the shows again is a smart marketing ploy.

It will also help Netflix once again remind you of just how much of a variety of video content is on the platform. The company has invested a lot in stand-up. Since there is a lot of content, most of it can easily get lost on the platform. This is one way to give subscribers a chance to see what they might have missed. This is the key difference between TikTok and Fast Laughs – Netflix isn’t trying to launch a new entertainment platform but instead uses new functionality to keep people on its main platform.

To access Fast Laughs, iOS users can use the bottom navigation menu and navigate the corresponding tab. The company will soon start testing Fast Laughs on Android devices.
