New LG TVs get webOS 6.0 platform and NFC-enabled remote control

LG Electronics (LG) announced that its 2021 smart TVs would receive an improved remote control and use a new software platform – webOS 6.0.

Changes in the sixth version of the WebOS operating system are intended to make viewing more comfortable and simplify the search and display of materials from various sources. In most cases, an optimized home screen takes into account the changing needs of users for content.

New voice commands have been implemented for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. It is argued that the search for materials through streaming services and Internet platforms has become much easier.

As for the new remote, it received a redesigned design, also aimed at improving the overall user experience with the TV. NFC support has been implemented: by touching the smartphone to the remote control, you can instantly organize the broadcast of materials from a small screen to a large one or vice versa.

The innovations will affect LG TVs OLED, QNED Mini LED, NanoCell and UHD. Such panels will become available this year.
