The Nintendo Switch console, which many analysts did not believe at the start, showed that interest in this format, at least in the performance of Nintendo, is very high. The Switch has excellent sales, and it has grown significantly amid the pandemic.

Nintendo fans can get upset. It looks like the next generation of Switch won’t come out in the near future

For Nintendo, this is a definite plus, but for those waiting for a new generation, it may be a disadvantage. Previously, a company spokesman has already stated that Nintendo has no plans to release a new console until the end of the current fiscal year, which ends in spring. However, that was many months ago, and now there is very little time left until spring.

But it seems that we should not expect the imminent release of the conditional Switch Pro yet. According to Doug Bowser, President of Nintendo of America, the company is currently focused on the platform as much as possible.

Right now, when we have momentum (in sales), we will focus on existing form factors. This is what we’ll continue to build on as we move on to what will be the fifth year of the Nintendo Switch.

Thus, it is likely that a new console can not be expected in 2021, although, of course, no one spoke about it directly. In general, Nintendo really does not have much reason to rush right now: the current consoles are selling great, there are no direct competitors, Sony and Microsoft consoles are in huge shortage for several months, and there are simply no new generation games that will definitely not be able to be ported to the current Switch.
