PlayStation CEO denies rumors that the Japanese market is no longer a priority for Sony

The latest issue of Edge magazine features an interview with Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan. In the conversation, they talked about the fact that Sony no longer considers Japan a priority market, as Bloomberg previously wrote about. The head did not agree with the thesis mentioned and denied the rumors on this score.

Jim Ryan commented during the conversation: “Sony’s position is that the Japanese market remains incredibly important for the company. We are now happy with the involvement of the Japanese developer community in making games [for the PlayStation], better than in the past few years

As an example of cooperation between Sony Interactive Entertainment and the Japanese publishing market, Jim Ryan cited the latest project presentations for the PS5. Eight games created in the Land of the Rising Sun were shown at two events.

The executive then commented on the Bloomberg article mentioned above: “So I read these materials. Many of the comments are inaccurate, and Japan – our second largest market and Sony’s homeland – is still important to us
