PS5 DualSense controller disassembly reveals Sony’s haptic feedback

One of the intriguing features of the PlayStation 5 game console is the ability of the DualSense controller to make the user experience different interactions with a special haptic feedback system built on the basis of adaptive triggers. The bloggers from the TronicsFix YouTube channel decided to look at how this system was implemented in practice, who took the controller apart and discovered a lot of interesting things in it.

Earlier, the developers from Sony said that interacting with the new controller will give users a completely new and unique gaming experience. The published video with the disassembly of the new controller allows you to understand what this statement was based on. The video shows that the work of the triggers is provided by several gears and a motor with a screw shaft, due to which the resistance is regulated when pressed.

This system allows you to simulate the sensations of interaction with different surfaces. For example, users will be able to feel the tension of the bowstring when shooting a bow or experience the effect of a jammed firearm. Responsive triggers are a real highlight of the new controllers, as they can change the way they play, giving users a new and more realistic experience of interacting with the virtual world.

The bloggers not only shed light on the complex trigger mechanism of the new DualSense but also compared the new controller with the old DualShock 4. It turned out that the new controller received a more capacious battery. Also worth noting is the increase in the size of the motherboard and chips inside the DualSense. The buttons use a dual shock absorption system, but the analog sticks are used here the same ones that were already used in the DualShock 4.

The new controllers will most likely still show their best in exclusive PS5 games, but third-party developers are already showing interest in them, who are interested in the capabilities of DualSense.
