Qualcomm intends to partner with independent HONOR, and also wants to supply Huawei with more than 4G chips

Following yesterday’s announcement of a new processor for the flagship Snapdragon 888 smartphones, Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon announced a possible partnership with HONOR.

Honor

According to him, entering the HONOR market as an independent brand can bring great consumer potential to the industry. In addition, the head of the company believes that HONOR will be able to offer many new and high-quality products, in this regard, the company is considering dialogue with the Chinese brand. If negotiations between both brands are successful, then HONOR will be able to present its first flagship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888.

The major release of HONOR is expected to be the flagship V40 smartphone based on the new Qualcomm chip. The smartphone is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2021, but there is no official information that could confirm this at the moment.

The presentation also listed the manufacturers who will receive the new chipset first. Among them are ASUS, Lenovo, LG, Meizu, Sharp, Vivo, Xiaomi, ZTE, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, Motorola, Lenovo, Black Shark, and Realme.

Cristiano Amon also noted that their brand has received a certificate to manufacture and supply 4G chips for Huawei. The company expects that they will also have the opportunity to supply the Chinese manufacturer, including 5G platforms.
