Full reviews of the new AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors based on the new 7nm Zen 3 architecture have been published today. The capabilities of the older Ryzen 9 can be found in our review and the Ryzen 5 5600X in the previous collection. Now let’s talk about the Ryzen 7 5800X model.

As a reminder, the Ryzen 7 5800X uses 8 physical cores and 16 virtual threads. The declared operating frequency range of the processor is 3.8-4.7 GHz. The total amount of the chip’s cache is 36 MB (32 MB L3). The manufacturer claims a nominal TDP level of 105W for the chip and estimates the processor at $ 499. In Russia, the recommended price, as it turned out, is 37,400 rubles.

We selected TechPowerUp, Eurogamer, and ComputerBase as our sources of performance data. Immediately, we note that in some places the results of their tests are quite different, which is most likely due to the settings and testing methods. Nevertheless, the overall picture was approximately the same in all cases.

In rendering, the Ryzen 7 5800X turned out to be quite good. So, in the single-core test of the Cinebench R20 benchmark, the novelty showed almost the best result, losing only to the older brother Ryzen 9 5900X. In multi-threaded mode, the eight-core Ryzen 7 5800X was faster than Intel’s ten-core flagship – the Core i9-10900K – which is quite impressive.

In other renderers, the new product also showed very high results, as well as in video encoding tasks. In the 7-Zip archiver, the Ryzen 7 5800X also showed a high level of performance – above the Core i9-10900K. Actually, the situation in WinRAR looks the same.

In terms of gaming performance, in many modern games, the Ryzen 7 5800X turned out to be faster than competitors from the Intel camp, although in some places it lost to them quite noticeably. In some cases, AMD’s new product is able to compete on an equal footing with the flagship Core i9-10900K, but in some places, it is noticeably inferior to it and even to its direct competitor Core i7-10700K.
