The United States Patent and Trademark Office recently published a new patent, which was registered by Sony. This patent describes a gaming cartridge device that could very well target the PlayStation 5.

Sony has patented new gaming cartridges, but not the fact that they are designed for the PlayStation 5

Last year, the first rumors about cartridges for the PlayStation 5 appeared, which were later commented on by Sony. The company noted that it is a storage medium that can store various data, such as characters, images, animations, sounds, and software. Later it became known that the cartridges are designed for Sony TOIO children’s gaming system.

However, this time we see an accessory of a different shape, and the description clearly states that this is a “Game Cartridge”. Sources again suggest that it may refer to the PlayStation 5 game console, but there is no evidence so far. Perhaps these are cartridges for another console.

PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan said in a recent interview that games for the PlayStation 5 could become more expensive due to the potentially high costs of developing large-scale next-generation projects.

The console is expected to be released during the Christmas season.
