The first lots of PlayStation 5 are completely sold out in Japan – the console will not appear on the shelves

Japanese residents have sold out all the starter lots of the PlayStation 5 and they will no longer appear on store shelves on the day of release. This was reported on the website of the Japanese division of the manufacturer. The company apologized to those who did not have time to purchase a new console.

The reason for the sale of all consoles for pre-orders was Sony’s desire to save fellow citizens from the need to risk their health due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The company clarified that it will not host launch and sales ceremonies in retail stores. The manufacturer said it expects new PS5 shipments in the future, but did not specify when this will happen.

The company has not yet announced anything about the situation with pre-orders and retail sales of the console in other regions.

As a reminder, the PS5 launch is scheduled for mid-November. The company has divided it into two stages: in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, the set-top boxes will be on sale on November 12, and in other countries a week later – on the 19th.
