Ubisoft: Michel Ansel’s departure did not prevent the development of Beyond Good & Evil 2

Portal Twinfinite referring to Ubisoft’s recent financial report stated that the French publishing house told about the Beyond Good & Evil 2 development in the absence of Michel Ansel (Michel Ancel).

Recall that in the second half of September, the famous game designer announced his departure from the gaming industry in general and Ubisoft in particular. Ansel was listed as the project’s production manager.

Ansel’s decision took Ubisoft by surprise: the developer left behind only one sheet of paper with eight points describing the main vision of Beyond Good & Evil 2.

Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft Director and Co-founder, says Beyond Good & Evil 2 is “progressing very well” even without the moral support from Ansel.

“The world of [Beyond Good & Evil] is really fantastic – as you can see, Netflix even decided to turn this universe into a movie. So the team has made a lot of progress and development is progressing very well, ” Guillemot said.

Shortly after Ansel’s departure, the French newspaper Liberation accused the renowned game designer of inept and not always adequate leadership. The developer himself, of course, rejects all reprimands from journalists.

According to Ubisoft’s February financial report, Beyond Good & Evil 2 won’t be out until April 2021. The French publishing house has already dubbed the game an AAAA project.
