Heavy electric trucks, the Volvo FH, Volvo FM, and Volvo FMX, are reportedly being tested. The cruising range of such vehicles on one battery recharge, depending on the configuration, will reach 300 km.

Volvo electric trucks with a GVW of up to 44 tonnes are expected to be used for a wide variety of urban applications. This is the implementation of construction work, garbage disposal, and, of course, the transportation of all kinds of goods.

“ With the rapid growth in the number of heavy electric trucks, we want to help our customers achieve sustainable development in their business. We are determined to continue to move our industry towards a sustainable future, ”says Volvo Trucks.

It should be noted that electric trucks will allow not only to reduce the influence of transport on the climate but also to improve the acoustic situation in cities due to the fact that electric vehicles move with a minimum noise level. Volvo Trucks adds that battery and fuel cell electric vehicles with extended range for heavy-duty and long-haul transport will be available in the future. The company plans to start selling this type of equipment in the second half of the 2020s. The main goal is to completely eliminate fossil fuel engines by 2040.
