At least with a bundle of Ryzen 7 1700 and Radeon RX 580
It would seem that in the issue of AMD Smart Access Memory (SAM) technology, a point has already been made regarding AMD itself: the technology should work on new video cards, new CPUs, and motherboards with chipsets of the current and previous generations.
You can run the latest AMD technology on an old PC, but it doesn’t make sense to do so. AMD SAM does not work with older CPUs and GPUs
However, it turned out that everything is not so simple. We will remind, earlier there was data that Ryzen 3000 and older processors cannot support SAM due to the lack of support for PDEP instructions (PCIe full-rate _pdep_u32 / 64). But AMD has officially stated to an Anandtech employee that SAM implementation is independent of PDEP. This means that the technology should work on older Ryzen CPUs as well.
And there was already an enthusiast who activated the technology not only on the old processor but also on the old video card. His system included a Ryzen 7 1700, Radeon RX 580, and an Asus B450-based motherboard.
As you can see, in most cases there is no difference, and the minimum fps has even decreased. In the case of the game Shadow of The Tomb Raider, we have no results, but the author stated that there was no difference at all.
