It’s very close to 3 GHz

Following the Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card release, AMD is expected to introduce the RX 6700 series based on the Navi 22 chip to answer the release of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 and 3060 Ti. As we already reported, mentions of AMD Radeon RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT have already been found in Linux drivers.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT BIOS Set Very High GPU Frequency Limit

According to preliminary data, the RX 6700 series cards will have the same number of computing units as the previous generation RX 5700 series. The memory capacity has been increased by 50%, to 12 GB, and the memory bus width has been reduced by 25%, to 192 bits. An increase in performance will be achieved by increasing frequencies.

Analysis of BIOS images of video cards of the Radeon RX 6700 series using the MorePowerTool program showed that the GPU clock speed limit is set at 2854 over-frequency limit is set at 2950 MHz. Let’s clarify that the upper limits and not the frequencies recommended by the manufacturer. For comparison, the RX 6800 XT has a maximum overclocking frequency of 2250 MHz, while its limit set in the BIOS is 2800 MHz. One of the BIOS images is set to a power limit of 220 watts, the other to 186 watts. Interestingly, the cards have the same memory clock speed limit as the RX 6800 XT – 1075 MHz. This means that GDDR6 memory will run at 16Gbps. Taking into account the above memory bus width, the bandwidth will be 384 GB / s.
