Gigabyte Announces Support for Ryzen 5000 – Owners of X470 and B450 Motherboards Will Have to Wait

Gigabyte Technology today announced the release of the latest BIOS for AMD X570, B550, and A520 chipsets, which will ensure compatibility with the latest AMD Ryzen 5000 series Zen 3 processors.

Ryzen shine

As a reminder, AMD will soon start selling Ryzen 5000 series processors, the biggest upgrade in Ryzen history. The series of chips so far includes four models: Ryzen 9 5950X, Ryzen 9 5900X, Ryzen 7 5800X, and Ryzen 5 5600X. Thanks to the advanced Zen 3 architecture, these processors deliver significant performance gains. Based on preliminary tests, AMD even managed to secure the crown of the leader in single-threaded computing, held by Intel for many years.

Gigabyte released preliminary BIOS versions with Ryzen 5000 support back in September. Since then, the development team has worked closely with AMD to optimize the Zen 3 core performance as well as to use the latest AMD BIOS code. The company now promises high compatibility, reliability, performance, and good overclocking capabilities.

Users can update the BIOS of their motherboards using either the @BIOS or Q-Flash utilities, or through the Q-Flash Plus function (allows you to update the firmware directly, without installing a processor, memory or video card, which is especially useful when buying an old motherboard and a new processor ).

The latest BIOS versions for AMD X570, B550, and A520 based motherboards are already available on the company’s websites. Gigabyte is currently working on new BIOSes for AMD X470 and B450 motherboards that will support Ryzen 5000 series processors and promises to release these updates soon. As a reminder, other manufacturers have promised to release fresh BIOSes for their motherboards based on AMD 400 series chipsets in January 2021.
