Google is preparing Maps update: news feed, pedestrian crossings and the ability to call Uber

In addition, they will improve the design of the pedestrian maps themselves and add the ability to call Uber or Lyft.
In the What’s Nearby section, Google Maps users will be able to find entries from other users and establishments. This should help people explore new places in their city from the comfort of their couches.
It will be easier for establishments and shops to notify their customers about new promotions, events, or changes in work. This feature will enable customers to make a more informed shopping experience. The update is being distributed gradually and will soon become available to all users of the mobile application on Android and iOS.
In addition, pedestrian crossings and building numbers will now be more clearly marked on maps. This should make city navigation more convenient. So far, innovation has affected only a few cities. Perhaps in the future, this will also affect Russian settlements.
Also, foreign journalists drew attention to the addition of support for Uber and Lyft in Google Maps. When planning a route, an alternative option to get to your destination is a taxi. By installing the appropriate application in one click through the map service, you can order a car. This functionality has already been implemented in Yandex.Maps.
