Live subtitles ready to run for calls

Google first introduced the Live Captions feature last year at the Google I / O 2019 Developer Conference. Now it’s getting ready to launch for phone calls.

The subtitle function was initially available for Pixel 4, and later appeared on the Pixel 3a, Pixel 3, Pixel 2, Samsung Galaxy S20, OnePlus 7T, and OnePlus 8. However, it has not been updated since the launch. Now, members of the XDA Developers community have found signs of empowerment in the code for the just-released third version of Android 11.

Everything indicates that users will be able to turn on subtitles during phone calls. After activation, all participants in the conversation will be informed about the start of text decryption.

The Live Captions feature uses machine speech recognition and automatically generates subtitles.
